Geela Ali.


Ambassador Geela Ali is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in both the health and foreign service sector of the Maldives. She began her professional career at the Ministry of Health of Maldives as a Health Promotion Officer in 1995 and later on took the role as the Head of Communicable Disease Control. In 2010 she also held the senior most civil servant role as the Permanent Secretary at the Health Ministry playing a key role in formulation of Health Master Plan & Policy Documents and engaged with development partners in health sector projects and policy implementation. On 7 May 2024, Ambassador Geela became the first woman to be appointed Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium and Head of Mission to the EU.
