A new design is taking over the world of floating hotels. Anthénea, an eco-luxury floating hotel, inspired by the floating pod in the 1977 James Bond movie, The Spy Who Loved Me, was brought to life by Jacques-Antoine Cesbron, Jean-Michel Ducancelle and Yannick Littoux.
The round ship is designed to be an oasis in the middle of the sea, fitted with solar panels that could power it indefinitely. “It is exceptionally autonomous. its range is from three days to, well, limitless, depending on the options selected”, the company revealed. The 50 m2 circular vessel is designed to follow the sun with the dome’s five automatically rotating solar panels. There are two optional silently propelled electric pods and an electric motor.
It is truly a floating home. The floating home of the third millennium.
Murielle Cesbron, Anthénea Director of Communications
The cabin has all the amenities a luxury hotel suite does, being divided between the bedroom and lounge areas. The bedroom zone has an XL sized round bed and an overflow round bathtub that can be filled with sea or fresh water.
The lounge area features a curved sofa, eco-friendly designed furnishings and a 360° deep-sea observatory. The kitchen area also offers a panoramic view of the surroundings.
Another impressive aspect of the Anthénea vessel is the solarium roof bar. Accessible by a circular staircase made of Breton chestnut, it can fit up to 12 people and opens up to offer a full view of the area.
Currently, the prototype is located off the coast of Bretagne, in the north-west of France. Another capsule, the first one the company sold, is about to be delivered to Doha. It was ordered by Triple Trend Design, a Qatari company specializing in interior design, and will be used as a showroom and event venue during the 2022 World Cup .
The price of an Anthénea vessel starts at €420,000 before tax and is customisable based on the client’s requests. It can be partitioned to have one, two or three cabins and can be fitted with different interior design models, from colours to materials and layout.
Besides the suite version, the creators also propose Anthénea spa, which has two relaxation areas fully dedicated to body care and mental escape, with panoramic and underwater vision, and Anthénea business, equipped with desks, high speed Wi-Fi on board, visual presentation and wall projection tools, modular seats, dressing room, sanitary facilities and kitchenette, as well as the representative underwater and panoramic views.
