Many people dream about their wedding day since they were children, long before having met the one and long before being able to take the leap. We imagine what we would look like in a dress or suit, which cake we’d serve and what location the wedding would take place at. A lot of us call it “the most wonderful day of our life” and despite the fact that this may not always be true, it’s certainly a day you’ll remember forever. So is it worth breaking your head over and trying to find the best possible setting? Without a doubt.
For some of us, the ideal backgroung might be a garden, local farm or whatever pleases you. Others, however, tend to look a little further. Even though a wedding abroad has its disadvantages – which certainly goes for the guests, too – it’s definitely worth considering if it’s something you have wanted for a long time. Because, let’s face it, sometimes it doesn’t hurt to try to find a sunnier place, especially if you live in, let’s say, Belgium.
Italian weddings
The weather is probably one of biggest the reasons why people get married in Italy. The food’s another valid motive and so is the often breathtaking landscape. And now, the Italian region of Lazio is giving you yet another incentive – as if we needed more. What are they offering you ask? Well, they’re giving everyone who’s getting married in the region a voucher worth 2000€, which you’re then free to use on every possible aspect of your special day, going from catering to photography. If you’re going for a big, fat wedding, it might not seem like a lot of budget but if you’re keeping things rather casual, 2000€ could actually get you pretty far.
Of course, the region around Rome is not offering this voucher out of the blue. For a long time now, the region has been getting very popular amongst people wanting to get married, but Covid-19 somehow changed that. Whereas before the health crisis there used to be 15 000 weddings a year, that number has dropped to just 9 000 at the moment. That means less weddings but also less tourists and less income for the tourist industry in Lazio. The campaign ‘Nel Lazio con amore’ therefore aims to attract more couples by giving them a little pocket money for their big wedding day. Both locals and foreigners can apply, but beware, there’s only 10 million euros available; afterwards, the campaign stops and you can say goodbye to your Italian dream wedding. Better be quick about it then!
