For many, the beginning of the new year is an opportunity to start anew. While in theory, 1 January is just a day like any other, it also has a tendency to wipe the slate clean. And even though we might not all believe we’ll do ‘better’ than before for the next twelve months, it doesn’t hurt to try, even if it’s just for a month. Dry January has therefore become a bit of a tradition, with people vowing to drink no alcohol for the entire month.
Yet – without sounding like someone who likes their alcohol a bit too much – what do you drink when wine, beer and cocktails are off the table? Water is alright most of the time but might bore you every now and then, while sodas and juices will only keep you interested for so long.
Luckily, in 2025, there is a lot to choose from as far as alcohol-free drinks go. With more and more people choosing to go non-alcoholic, whether that is for a month, multiple days a week or permanently, the offer is growing constantly and exponentially. We’ve selected 10 alcohol-free drinks to try during Dry January and far beyond.
1. Curious Elixirs
J.W. Wiseman launched Curious Elixirs almost a decade ago and is thus one of the longest-standing alcohol-free drink alternatives out there. Overall, there are now nine different elixirs to choose from, ranging from a Pomegranate Negroni Sbagliato to a Sparkling Champagne Cocktail. Perfect for those who want to just crack open a bottle, pour a glass and enjoy their drink.
2. Gimber
The main ingredient in all of Gimber’s products (there are three concentrates and one ready-to-go drink) is ginger. And while many of us might associate ginger with health-focused, tear-inducing shots, their products prove that there’s more about the spice than meets the eye. Their concentrates can be added to cocktails and teas alike, while their ready-to-go drink offers a refreshing and adult-proof alternative to your regular sodas. Instead of Dry January, the company is promoting the Sober Curious Movement, inviting people to drink less alcohol on a long-term basis instead of drinking none for just a month a year.
3. Betty Buzz
While many celebrities launch their own tequilas or wines, Blake Lively is choosing to do things differently. With Betty Buzz, she offers a range of sparkling mixers, crafted from clean ingredients. Ginger beer or Oak Smoked Lemonade: the choice is up to you.
4. JNPR
JNPR’s offer is slightly different than most. Instead of making ready-to-serve cocktails or new concoctions altogether, they are focusing on developing alcohol-free versions of well-known alcoholic beverages. It all started with a gin alternative (which now comes in three flavours). The offer was then extended to include alcohol-free bitter, rum and vermouth. Next, you mix the rest of your cocktail with your regular ingredients and maybe you won’t even taste the difference.
5. Figlia
There might be nothing more Italy- and vacation-proof than a good old spritz. Yet what if you wanted to make that moment alcohol-free? No worries, Figlia has got you covered. The brand suggests you serve its so-called Fiore over ice and with just an orange peel – sometimes, less is more.
6. Noughty
Many of the successful alcohol-free drink companies seem to be concentrating on a cocktail-loving public these days, but what about your regular glass of wine? Well, there’s a lot to choose from but not all alcohol-free wines are created equally. One fairly affordable option seems to be Noughty, who have a red, rosé, white and even a couple of sparkling options.
7. The Mocktail Club
Back to our cocktails. The sister-run company has been around since 2017 and has been expanding ever since. Nowadays, you’ll be able to find seven distinguished mocktails (alcohol-free cocktails) in their shop, all with their own specific twist: Basil Breeze, Chili Charm or Rhubarb Rush, you choose.
8. Troubadour Zestra
All this time, you might have been wondering about alcohol-free beers. There are many of them to choose from anno 2025 and everyone might have their favourite already, so we won’t bore you with an endless list. However, one we found to be particularly interesting is Troubadour Zestra, which is the best IPA-reminding option we’ve been able to find so far. Less artificially-tasting than most, it’s well worth a try.
9. Three Spirit
What happens when bartenders, plant scientists and alchemists come together to make an alcohol-free beverage? Three Spirit. Meant to mimic the social and mood-enhancing aspects of alcohol consumption, the ingredients in their mixes are certainly interesting, including lion’s mane mushroom and schisandra, an adaptogenic berry. Serving them alone might be enough to get the party started.
10. Zeronimo
Let’s conclude this list with another, slightly more expensive wine alternative. The beverages are produced in Austria and scored extremely well with critics. The regular line includes four different varieties at the moment but there’s also a novelty on its way: the world’s first 20-year-aged NA wine. To say we’re curious would be an understatement.
