Saga Cruises, a British company specialising in cruises for people over 50 years old, has launched its winter 2026 sun sailings. 11 new itineraries are now available to book, all departing from Portsmouth in the United Kingdom.
From 5 January 2026, travellers will be able to step aboard the Spirit of Adventure or Spirit of Discovery to explore a wide range of destinations, including the Canary Islands, Morocco and the Arctic Circle. According to the liner, the new cruises will be even more eventful than before.
“Our 2026 Saga Cruise journeys now offer an excursion in every port – with a wider range of experiences to suit varying tastes,” says Nigel Blanks, CEO at Saga Cruises. “And because there are different levels of activity, it changes the way passengers can engage with their destination. For every sightseeing trip, there’s an offer of a little bit more, that gives a glimpse beyond the usual postcard vistas.”
The Canaries, which have been a classic Saga destination for a long time now, are still part of the portfolio. However, cruisers over 50 will now be able to enjoy a much wider range of activities on the islands. More specifically, travellers will be able to visit Mount Teide by cable car in Tenerife and gaze at the stars in La Palma. There will be an organised El Cuervo Volcano trek and sea trekking in Arrecife, a submarine adventure in Las Palmas and a catamaran cruise to Lobos Island, a national park, from Fuerteventura. Last but not least, carnivals in Funchal and Tenerife are on the schedule.
Another addition to the portfolio is the so-called Homecoming Cruise by Captain Franko Papic. This is a 26-night cruise designed by the Captain, during which travellers will be visiting some fabulous ports in Croatia, including overnights in Dubrovnik and Rijeka. New ports on the itinerary also include Opatija, Krk Island and Rijeka. Some of the scheduled experiences include visiting Plitvice Lakes, Skadar Lake and Krka National Park. “I cannot wait to welcome you on board this scenic cruise to my homeland, Croatia. I am delighted to have been involved in the development of this itinerary”, Papic explains.
