Stockholm needed cookies. Great cookies. American style cookie dough with chocolate chips and sea salt flakes on top, but also cookies with a twist. That’s what I want to bring to Sweden’s capital.
I’ve lived in different cities around Europe and the world, and in almost every place I had a favorite cookie shop. Scoop me a Cookie and Mokonuts in Paris, Levain Bakery in New York, and a couple of different spots in London. I’ve been living in Stockholm for almost two years now, and there hasn’t been a single cookie bakery – until now. So after some back and forth thinking and the fact that I was really keen on a new, big project, I decided to launch Krümel – Cookies & Crumbs.
Krümel, for now, is a small bakery, selling homemade cookies with a twist. You can order them to be delivered to your home, or pick them up. There will also soon be some pick-up spots like little shops and restaurants, but that’s still a secret. All of the cookies are mainly made from great quality Swedish ingredients; most cookies contain a small percentage of rye, spelt or buckwheat flour. I think that the quality of chocolate in cookies is one of the most vital parts, and you really can taste what kind has been used. This is why I only use the best chocolate: French Valrhona chocolate pellets and Belgian Callebaut chocolate chips. They beautifully melt inside the cookies, and stay liquid when delivered out to people’s places.
So why are Krümel – Cookies & Crumbs different? I love to play with flavours. I love to mix Garam Masala into desserts, I pair turmeric brioche buns with caramel sauce and think that almost every spice has its place in some sweet creation. For now, there are five different Krümel cookies, one for everyone. The classic chocolate chip one has some spelt flour and sea salt flakes on top. There is a Crumb Brûlée cookie – basically Crème Brûlée as a cookie. I sell one with black sesame paste and white chocolate, and another cookie with miso, poppy seeds, walnuts and lemon. The fifth one is an all chocolate cookie made from gluten free buckwheat flour and crunchy buckwheat bits on top. Got hungry? Order your cookies in Stockholm and I promise you’ll love them!
