The Alps have always been able to seduce hikers, climbers and skiers alike. As of 7th July, the Italian region of South Tyrol has another reason to attract more visitors. Located in Obereggen, at the foot of the Dolomites, Mindful.Latemar is the first immersive Mindfulness trail in the Alps.
Developed by Dr. Thomas Bernazoggi, wellbeing psychologist and Mindfulness coach, it includes 18 Mindfulness exercises that will try to give participants all they need to re-centre and find themselves amidst a peaceful environment in the Alps.
Generally speaking, Mindfulness finds its roots in the Hindu and Buddhist traditions, while clinical psychology and psychiatry have adopted some of its techniques since the seventies.
Mindfulness is the ability to be present and aware of the present moment. Mindful.Latemar is a place of wellbeing full of meaning and emotions, where everyone can find themselves and ‘re-centre’ themselves by promoting their own psychophysiological wellbeing.
Mindful.Latemar
The circular trail on the Golfrion mountain at the foot of the Dolomites, with an altitude of 1.872 metres, has been chosen specifically because of its past. The region is said to be an example of rebirth and resilience because it was hit by storm Vaia in November 2018. However, nowadays little reminds of that event and everything has been arranged to be able to welcome visitors in the best way possible.
Every Friday, two group sessions are being organised: one in German and another one in Italian. A spot will cost you 30 euros – cable car transportation is included. It is also possible to arrange a session on other days and still be accompanied by Dr. Bernazoggi. If, however, you prefer to take your Mindfulness journey on your own, you could just download the application for free, which will then guide you through the 18 exercises at your own pace.
Mindful.Latemar can be reached by taking the cable car Predazzo-Gardonè and chairlift from Gardonè to Passo Feudo continuing on foot for about an hour along the Latemar.ium trails. The tour is said to take you approximately two hours but of course everything will depend on your pace.
