Community-owned rail operator European Sleeper has announced it will be introducing a new sleeper train connection between Brussels and Hamburg as of July 2026. The service will be an expansion of the company’s Paris-Brussels-Berlin route launching in March 2026.
As of 26 March 2026, community-owned cooperative European Sleeper is set to launch a sleep train service between Paris and Berlin, stopping in Brussels on the way. Operating three times a week – running from Paris to Berlin on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays and returning on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays – the connection will bring the number of European Sleeper services between Brussels and Berlin to six per week, as a Brussels-Prague connection with a stopover in Berlin already exists.
Connecting mainland Europe to Scandinavia
Moreover, European Sleeper has now announced that the new Paris-Berlin route will also stop in Hamburg starting from 13 July 2026. The addition is likely to prove a practical solution for travellers heading to Scandinavia, as existing train lines already connect Hamburg to Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Oslo.
“Hamburg is a key rail hub in Northern Europe. By adding this stop, we are creating a much stronger link between Western Europe and Scandinavia. It becomes easier for travellers from Denmark, Sweden, and Norway to connect overnight to cities such as Brussels and Paris, while reinforcing the role of night trains within a connected European rail network”, said Chris Engelsman, co-founder and Chief Commercial Officer of European Sleeper, in an interview with RailTech.
At the moment of writing, booking tickets for the new line connecting Paris, Brussels, Hamburg, and Berlin seems to be possible already, with fares starting at €29.99 for a one-way ticket in the Budget travel class, going up to €119.99 for a Comfort class ticket.
“The addition of Hamburg as a stop on European Sleeper’s Paris–Berlin route underlines the city’s position at the heart of Europe’s rail network. As a key gateway between Scandinavia and the rest of Europe, Hamburg offers international travellers seamless rail connections alongside a rich cultural, culinary, and waterfront experience”, stated Michael Otremba, CEO of the Hamburg Tourist Board, in an interview with RailTech.
The new connection comes shortly after the launch of a new crowdfunding campaign by European Sleeper, launched on 15 December 2026. Their new Amsterdam-Brussels-Milan connection is scheduled to launch on 18 June 2026.
