On Wednesday November 23rd, a Lufthansa Boeing 777 cargo plane was expected to land in Doncaster Sheffield Airport in England. Some of the supplies include lettuce, cauliflower, broccoli, strawberries and citrus fruits. Approximately 80% of food imports into Great Britain come from the European Union.
Authorities in Germany are in the process of investigating whether cargo flights will still be needed for the next few days. The possibility of using passenger aircraft is also being evaluated. Lufthansa reported that those planes may also be used to bring food to the UK.
Uncertainty and fear of shortages seem to be hovering of Great Britain, specially from Christmas on.
