Tripadvisor has kicked off the 2023 travel and hospitality awards season by announcing its Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Destination Awards. This annual award recognises the best destinations around the world, as voted by a global community of hundreds of millions of travellers who submitted millions of reviews on the platform over the past 12 months.
This year’s awards have been divided into six subcategories: Popular Destinations, Trending Destinations, Food Destinations, Best Places to Ski, Nature Destinations, and Best Places for Culture.
Dubai has retained its top position on the Popular Destinations list for the second year in a row, while New York City has returned to the top spot in the United States after dropping to fifth place last year due to the pandemic. The Trending Destination category shows that Cuba has taken the number one spot, followed by Hoi An, Vietnam, and Mauritius. Juneau, Alaska, has made its debut as the top Trending Destination in the United States.
Rome has been named the Best Food Destination for 2023, while Whistler, Canada, has been recognised as the best Ski Destination in the world. The inaugural Nature Destinations category has been won by Mauritius, and Fes, Morocco, has been declared the Best Place for Culture.
Unlike other travel awards that rely on tourism editors to promote destinations, Tripadvisor’s rankings are based on real feedback from travellers who have visited these destinations. The awards provide valuable insights for travellers looking to plan their next vacation or holiday, based on the experiences of millions of other people.
