Snow sports enthusiasts will soon once more be able to hop on the snow train from London St Pancras and seek out bluebird days on the Alpine slopes, a press release from Eurostar has confirmed.
Running for four months from 20 December 2025, Eurostar Snow provides a high-speed connection to Lille, where a change of train will take skiers and snowboarders to stops at Chambéry, Albertville, Moûtiers, Aime-La-Plagne, Landry, and Bourg-Saint-Maurice. A coach service from the latter serves a variety of ski stations, including iconic resorts such as Val Thorens, Courchevel, and Meribel.
With a total outward journey time of eight hours from London to Bourg-Saint-Maurice (and a nine-hour return), the train offers skiers and boarders a flight-free way to get themselves and their equipment to the mountains—a green flex that Eurostar is emphasising with a “more sustainable way to reach the Alps” catchphrase.

On the practical side, adults can take up to two pieces of luggage (up to 85cm long), one piece of hand luggage, and skis or a snowboard with no hidden charges. The hungry and time-poor can stock up on calories before the action at Eurostar’s Café between London and Lille. Eurostar Plus ticket holders will even get refreshments delivered to their seats.
Plus, kids can stay entertained, and busy workers can finish that project before their mountain detox thanks to the train’s seat charging plugs for phones or laptops, and an onboard wi-fi connection (though, be warned, Eurostar’s wi-fi is notoriously flaky).
@flightfreeuk Autumn may only just be starting, but we need to tell you that tickets are now on sale for the 2025-26 season of the @Eurostar Snow Train! As with all transport, you get the best prices when you book in advance, so don't wait til winter comes blustering in to book. If you needed a little extra convincing to choose the Snow Train over the plane, here you go: ❄️ No extra charge for luggage – you can bring up to 2 large pieces of luggage, 1 piece of hand luggage and your skis/snowboard. ❄️ With stops in Chambéry, Albertville, Moûtiers, Aime-La-Plagne, Landry and Bourg-Saint-Maurice, you get dropped off directly to the heart of the action. ❄️ You can sit back and relax into the holiday (with a glass of red wine perhaps) and watch the scenery change from a (likely) drizzly London to the snow blanketed French Alps. A journey that's easier on you and the planet – what more could you want? #SnowTrain #Eurostar #SkiSeason #FrenchAlps #SkiFlightFree #FlightFree2025 ♬ original sound – Flight Free UK
Brand new for the 2025 season is the option of a seven-day return, allowing travellers headed out to depart early on Saturday mornings and be at their resort in time for a celebratory après-ski drink, even before they’ve done any skiing. The return comes back the following weekend on Saturday or Sunday, until the last date of 4 April 2026.
Starting at £99 each way, demand for the snow train is likely to be high and tickets went on sale five months ago in July, so the best advice to those who know they want a seat is not to hesitate, even if they haven’t yet booked a ski pass or accommodation, since all tickets are fully exchangeable as many times as customers want, with no fee up to 1 hour before departure.
The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts is predicting below-average snowfall for November to January across central Europe and parts of the Alps. SnowBrains is noting La Nina conditions for 2025-26, agreeing that glaciers or altitude are musts earlier in the season, while the best chance of drier, colder conditions and powder is later—if a negative North Atlantic Oscillation helps to bring snow lines lower and preserve deep mid-mountain snow for longer stretches.
