From 26 to 29 September, the Brussels event venue Gare Maritime, at Tour & Taxis, will be hosting the 13th edition of the yearly Eat Festival. For four days, the best chefs of the European capital will be celebrated, giving visitors the chance to get to know the local flavours.
60 chefs and artisans will present their best creations during the event. From appetisers to desserts, from cocktails to beers, the entire Brussels food scene will be represented at Tour & Taxis. For this newest edition of the festival, however, the approach will be different than before.
Every day, two teams of chefs, pastry chefs and cheesemakers will put together a menu for visitors to enjoy. Racines, Fernand Obb Delicatessen, Yoka Tomo and Frank are just some of those present at the festival. There will be a 3 and 5 course menu available, costing 40 and 60 euros respectively, with drinks included in the price. Simple entry tickets are thus no longer available, contrary to previous years.
Thanks to collaborations with BXLBeerFest and Bordeaux Wines, the drinks will be just as delicious as the food. All dishes will be served as if you were in a restaurant, on plates and with metal cutlery, compared to previous editions’ take-away containers, a conscious choice of the festival in order to reduce waste.
“A four-day festival to get a taste of the best Brussels has to offer in gastronomy. Chefs and artisans will be serving up their signature dishes and desserts in person. Whether you come for one day or several, the culinary and gustatory possibilities will seem endless”, Eat Festival explains.
Aside from the chef menus, there will be workshops, tastings, demonstrations and a 100% Brussels producers’ market during. And, in collaboration with the Belgian Cheesemakers Federation, the winner of the national Premier Fromager (best cheesemaker) competition will be decided. Moreover, the best prawn croquette in the capital will also be chosen during the festival.
Another novelty at this year’s edition is the Hospitality Package, costing 75 euros per person. The experience has been designed especially for companies and groups, making it the perfect activity for a birthday party or a team building experience. The offer includes various options depending on the size of the group.
The festival is a cashless event, which means you need to buy “Food & Drink” credits to pay for your consumptions.
