Once again, at the end of September, Brussels will not only be the capital of Belgium but also the capital of gastronomy. As the renowned Eat Festival sets up camp in the Gare Maritime at Tour & Taxis from September 28th until October 1st, visitors will be able to have a taste of some of the best food Belgium has to offer, thanks to the sixty chefs that will be present during the four days. According to the organisation, signature dishes, colourful desserts, delicious cheeses and Brussels beers will be on the menu.
It is not the first time Eat Festival is being organised, but this year there’s something extra special about the event. Eat Festival will be teaming up with BXLBeerFest, which will have a special bar at the venue. Visitors will also be able to buy tickets for BXLBeerFest at a reduced price, as the beer festival will take place at the same time and just next-door to Eat Festival. In other words: how to taste all the great stuff Belgium has to offer over the span of just one weekend. Not a fan of beer? No worries, Bordeaux Wines also have a stand at the food festival and will organise workshops for those who are interested.
When talking about the programme, we could go on and on for a long time. Brasserie Cantillon, En Stoemelings, La Fruitière, CiPiaCe, Old Boy… The line-up is a true food lover’s paradise, filled with names that are well-known within Brussels and outside. On Sunday, the seventh ‘Concours officiel du Premier Fromager de Belgique’, during which Belgium’s best cheesemonger will be chosen, will be organised from 1 PM until 6 PM – an event not to be missed if you like a bit of cheese.
If you would like to participate, tickets can be bought online for 20 euros per person for four days (or 15 if you’re quick). Eat Festival will be open to the public on Thursday September 28th and Friday September 29th from 6 PM until 11 PM, on Saturday September 30th from 12 PM until 11 PM and on Sunday October 1st from 12 PM until 8 PM.
