The Brussels museums Nocturnes have become a staple event for culture mongers in the Belgian capital. For the 23rd time already, the Nocturnes are now scheduled to come back for what will undoubtedly be yet another successful edition.
From 11 April until 23 May, everyone interested will be able to visit some of Brussels’ best museums every Thursday night between 5 pm and 10 pm for a range of special activities. In total, 42 museums will participate in the Nocturnes this year. Some of them are well-known among the public, such as the Meise Botanic Garden or the WIELS, while others are just waiting to be discovered.
During the Nocturnes, the museums will offer various activities, ranging from unique guided tours to exclusive access to the museum reserves to art workshops, in addition to the standard visit. The Nocturnes are also an opportunity to discover the city: each evening, visits to the museums of the same municipality will be included in guided walks to discover the area’s urban heritage.
Moreover, all museums will be accessible for 6 euros (or 3 euros if you’re under 26 years old) on the nights of the Nocturnes, making it the perfect low-budget after work activity on a Thursday. Several passes, such as the Art Nouveau Pass or Paspartoe, offer extra discounts.
This year, the Nocturnes kick off onThursday, 11 April, with a 6 pm vernissage in the Brussels city centre. Visitors can then continue to one of the museums taking part in the very first evening of Nocturnes: the Brussels City Museum, the Jewish Fund of Belgium, the intimate Museum of Eroticism and Mythology, Choco Story Brussels, the Palais du Coudenberg, the KBR and the temporary exhibition “Josef Hoffmann” at the Royal Museums of Art and History.
The full programme and ticket sales are available from 25 March. Tickets will be available online or directly at the museum on the night of the visit.
While waiting for the ticket sales to open, Brussels Nocturnes is still looking for volunteers to help out during the events. Volunteer tasks include helping at the reception, assisting with workshops and accompanying guided tours. In return, volunteers will receive some free tickets and a Nocturnes goodie bag.
