All fares of Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines and Eurowings can be rebooked without a rebooking fee. Originally, this fare offer was valid for (re-)bookings until the end of February, but now the offer has been extended: all airline fares, booked until 31 May included, can be rebooked free of charge as often as desired up to May 31, 2021. After that date, one more rebooking is possible free of charge.
Lufthansa Group Airlines had already made it possible for its customers to rebook their tickets without a fee last year. The waiver of the rebooking fee applies worldwide for all new bookings in all fares on short, medium and long-haul routes. This enables flexible travel planning for all Lufthansa Group customers.
Additional costs, however, may arise for rebookings in certain situations. If the original booking class, for instance, is no longer available when rebooking to a different date or to a different destination.
Rebooking of tickets issued up to and including August 31, 2020, can now be done until May 31, 2021, for travel until 31 December 2021.
What if you want to change or postpone your ticket?
If one or more flights of your trip are cancelled, you have the following options:
1. You can rebook once free of charge to an alternative flight to the same destination and in the same travel class. The rebooking must be made within the period of ticket validity (usually one year from the original departure date). To do so, please contact Lufthansa’s Service Center or your travel agency as soon as possible.
2. If your ticket was issued before or on 31 August 2020, you can exchange your ticket once to a new travel, including changes to your travel class, departure or destination airport*. New travel must start latest by 31 December 2021. The ticket will be recalculated and additional payment may be required if the new fare is higher. To do so, please contact Lufthansa’s Service Center or your travel agency by May 31, 2021 and have your ticket number ready.
If your flight is not cancelled but you would like to change your travel plans, you have the following options:
1. Your ticket was issued after August 31, 2020:
(a) Your flexible fare conditions apply: You can change your travel date without a change fee as described in your fare conditions. An additional payment may be required if the fare for the new flight is higher. The change must be made before the original planned travel date. Please go to My Bookings to change your travel online or contact your travel agency.
b) A change of travel class, departure or destination airport is possible*. Additional payment may be required if the fare for the new flight is higher. The rebooking must be made before the original planned travel date. Please contact Lufthansa’s Service Center or your travel agency for making this change.
2. Your ticket was issued before or on August 31, 2020:
a) You may generally change your travel date once without a change fee. An additional payment may be required if the fare for the new flight is higher. The rebooking must be made prior to the original scheduled travel date. Please go to My Bookings to change your travel online or contact your travel agency.
b) If you would like to postpone your travel, you do not have to commit to a future travel date yet. Your ticket will keep its value and you can use it for a new trip with travel starting latest by 31 December 2021. Please contact Lufthansa’s Service Center or your travel agency by 31 May 2021 and have your ticket number ready.
c) A change of travel class, departure or destination airport is possible once without a change fee*. An additional payment may be required if the fare for the new flight is higher. To do so, please contact Lufthansa’s Service Center or your travel agency by 31 May 2021 and have your ticket number ready.
*Note: An exclusive domestic ticket cannot be changed to an international route and an international ticket cannot be changed to a domestic route.
