The best airports in the world have been recognised by the latest ranking and awards from Airports Council International (ACI) World. With a focus on flyer feedback, the 2025 ASQ Customer Experience Awards “show airports outperforming other industries as passenger satisfaction continues to rise.”
The ASQ survey method measures passenger satisfaction as it happens, with feedback taken directly from travellers as they pass through the world’s hubs. Nearly 707,000 passengers were surveyed at various times of day and night across 110 countries at over 400 airports, with up to 50 touchpoints per airport, ensuring the whole experience was taken into account.
👏 Congratulations to the outstanding winners in Europe recognized through the 2025 ASQ Customer Experience Awards!

The findings show the competition could be argued to be getting stronger, with “several award categories” featuring “more than 35% new winners,” a press release noted. Airport ambience and cleanliness were declared to be the strongest indicators of overall satisfaction. Significantly, with many commentators’ eyes on reported heavy-handedness from US border control officers, Border and Passport Control recorded the largest satisfaction gains globally, as technology and biometrics have helped to streamline the passenger journey through the airport, while staff can help to put passengers at ease and create a feeling of security and comfort.
Nathalie Altwegg, Senior Vice President, SITA at Airports, partnering the awards, explained: “Airports are raising the bar through innovation and dedication, and we’re proud to stand alongside our partners as they continue to redefine the passenger journey.”
A dozen airports showed consistent strength across various aspects of customer experience and operations, especially Rome Fiumicino Airport, handling over 40 million passengers each year and yet scoring highly in five categories, as did the smaller hubs Salalah, Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International, and Yogyakarta International, each recurring across multiple passenger experience categories, such as journey ease, enjoyment, cleanliness and/or staff recognition. Some of the top performers, garnering awards in four or more categories, and listed taking size into consideration, are ranked here:
