The World Architecture Festival 2023 is set to take place at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore from 29 November to 1 December. Out of nearly 250 completed projects shortlisted for this year’s World Architecture Festival (WAF) Awards, one will be named “World Building of the Year”.
For the first time since 2015, WAF will once again be taking place at the world-class venue, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. Visitors will have the chance to meet the architects behind the world’s most innovative projects, as well experiencing the live presentations of hundreds of renowned architects. In addition to the awards, there will be keynote talks, a product exhibition, and networking opportunities.
“We are delighted with both the quantity and quality of this year’s entries,” said WAF program director Paul Finch. “They are a reminder in a world experiencing numerous crises that architects continue to address both everyday and unusual challenges with skill and imagination.”
Some of the shortlisted projects include a Dubai mosque, a panda breeding research facility in Chengdu, China, as well as the Newark Liberty International Airport’s recently opened Terminal A, Australia’s Holocaust Museum in Melbourne and a new national stadium in Cambodia.

Now in its 16th edition, WAF is the world’s largest festival and live awards competition dedicated to celebrating and sharing architectural excellence from across the globe. It is where the architecture community meets to share expertise and learn from each other and is the only global architecture festival that combines awards, seminars and networking.
It is the only awards where designers pitch their work to a panel of expert judges and their peers – all live at the Festival. In an intimate setting you will be able to watch the presentations from over 500 finalists, hear the judges’ critique and understand the intricate details of some of the best architecture and interior projects in the world today.
18 categories of building will be evaluated, including residential, commercial, and cultural architecture. According to CNN, category winners will then compete for the coveted overall prize, while other prizes will recognize the best in landscape architecture, proposed future projects and interior design.
