Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has announced that the city plans to lift more capacity limits later this month and ease most of the restrictions on June 11th. Restaurants, gyms, and special event venues will no longer face capacity restrictions as of May 21st, reports Travel + Leisure. Bars and nightclubs will continue to have a 50% capacity maximum, Deputy Mayor John Falcicchio said on Twitter. Sports venues, including Nationals Park, will be able to welcome more fans as of May 14th.

Some important sites in the city have already reopened their doors including George Washington’s Mount Vernon, Ford’s Theatre (the place where former president Abraham Lincoln was assassinated), the Hirshhorn Sculpture Garden, and the International Spy Museum.
The National Museum of American History is expected to reopen on May 21st, while the National Gallery of Art, National Portrait Gallery, and National Museum of African American History and Culture are scheduled to open a week earlier, on May 14th.
Live music performances are on the menu as well with some of them taking place at iconic locations such as the Black Cat and 9:30 Club. People attending those performances will need to wear their face masks. According to Travel + Leisure, Washington, D.C. has also unveiled plans to attract tourists with cash prizes of up to $25,000 to experience the nation’s capital.
The city has several free museums, monuments to American history, and restaurants from every corner of the world. Winners of the contest will be announced throughout June.
