Starting from 16 June 2026, Vietnam Airlines will be organising non-stop flights between Hanoi and Amsterdam. It is the first time the two countries will be connected through a direct route.
According to Sabre Market Intelligence, 122,100 two-way passengers travelled between the Netherlands and Vietnam in the 12 months leading up to June 2025. However, as no direct flight routes connect the two countries, all travellers needed to make use of one-stop connections, obliging them to have a stopover and thus extending the travel time.
Starting from 16 June 2026, travellers will be able to travel on a direct flight route between Hanoi and Amsterdam, marking the first-ever direct connection between the two countries. Travel between those two specific cities alone was good for 57,000 passengers in the 12 months leading to June 2025.
“The introduction of the nonstop Hanoi-Amsterdam service represents a key milestone in our European network development. Establishing operations at one of the world’s leading hubs not only creates new growth opportunities for Vietnam Airlines, but also contributes to deeper economic, trade, investment and cultural ties between Vietnam, the Netherlands and Europe as a whole”, stated Nguyen Quang Trung, executive vice president of Vietnam Airlines.

Details of the route
Thanks to the domestic flight networks in Vietnam and within Europe, travellers will be able to easily catch a connecting flight from both cities to continue their journey, thus improving global connectivity.
Not only will the route facilitate travel for tourists travelling between the two countries and for the Vietnamese community living in the Netherlands, but the direct flights should also boost cargo business and overal train between Vietnam and the Netherlands, which is the Asian country’s most important trading partner in Europe. Export products, including electronics, textiles, agricultural products, and seafood, are particularly popular.
The new flight route is scheduled to leave thrice a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, although ticket sales have not yet started at the time of writing. It will deploy Airbus A350-900 aircraft. Across Business Class, Premium Economy Class, and Economy Class, the plane offers room to a maximum of 305 passengers.
The connection between Hanoi and Amsterdam marks the twelfth European non-stop flight route for Vietnam Airlines. Amongst others, the airline organises direct flights between Vietnam (either from Hanoi or from Ho Chi Minh City) and Frankfurt, London Heathrow, Milan Malpensa, Moscow Sheremetyevo, and Paris Charles de Gaulle.
