Whenever you’re in need of clearing your head, going to the seaside is the way to do it. With the wind in your hair, the sound of the water in your ears and the sand under your feet, it’s difficult not to relax – at least for the duration of your walk. Some of us are lucky enough to be able to go to a beach in their own country, while others are stuck between other countries, meaning that a trip abroad must happen for us to be able to benefit from the advantages of the seaside.
But let’s be honest, all beaches were not created equal. Some are undeniably better, more tropical and more beautiful than others. And that’s okay. However, that also means that whenever you’re planning a beach vacation, it’s essential to do your homework. Where do you want to go? What do you expect from a beach? Do you want to be able to swim or not? Do you want sunshine or are rain and wind okay? The list of criteria is long, as is the list of possible beaches to go to. So how do you choose?
Well, luckily, there are some helpful ways to make your life easier when it comes to choosing the perfect beach. Of course, you could base your opinion on pictures you see when scrolling down on Instagram. However, if you use this method, make sure to then do extra research on the place, as we all know social media often doesn’t reflect reality. Maybe that picture was taken from just alongside a big motorway, maybe the photographer chose not to depict that giant mountain of trash in the middle of the beach or maybe they went to take the picture at 5 a.m., because just a few hours later, that same beach would have been invaded by thousands of tourists.
So let’s be clear, Instagram might be good to get ideas, but you should always try to find more about the place somewhere else. TripAdvisor, for example, could be of some help, especially now that they’ve released a list with what they consider to be the world’s 25 best beaches. So go ahead and get inspiration for your next trip!
