Usually, rooftop bars are something we prefer to keep for endless, hot summer nights. They’re the perfect way to escape from the hustle and bustle in the city far below and there’s nothing like a sunset amongst friends or lovers. But as it turns out, rooftops can also be very pleasant during the winter months. The Hotel, a Brussels hotel famous amongst locals and tourists alike, proves that by opening its Altitude 24 rooftop oyster bar for a limited time only this holiday season. If you’re early, you might still catch that sunset, if not, you can marvel at the thousands of city lights covering Brussels in a bright blanket.
As it is a winter bar, Altitude 24 will of course be equipped with a very cosy atmosphere. Dimmed lights, fake-fur cushions, soft throws and candlelight will set the mood. As far as the playlist goes, we can only guess it will be holiday-themed as well. Even though The Hotel is normally only open to guests, this holiday season will be the exception to that rule. Everyone will be welcome to take the lift all the way to the 24th floor and to sit down at the oyster and champagne bar, from where you’ll be able to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view over Brussels. You’ll look out over some of the city’s most well-known buildings, such as the Palais de Justice – which is, of course, still being renovated.
However, the fact that the bar is open to everyone doesn’t mean it’s accessible for all budgets. On the food front, you’ll have to choose between oysters and carpaccio. And when it comes to drinks, only the best is good enough, with champagnes from Moet & Chandon and Ruinart. Prices start at 20 euros a glass so do keep that in mind when embarking on your 24 floor-long journey.
Altitude 24 at The Hotel will be open from the 16th of December to the 6th of January (every day except on 24/12, 25/12, 31/12 and 01/01) from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm during the week and from 3:00 pm 8:00 pm during the weekend.
