Christmas is upon us and therefore, many of those who are hosting a dinner this year are starting to put together their Christmas menu. After all, waiting until the last minute is never a good idea and especially when it comes to the holiday season. But what to prepare if you want to really blow away your guests this year? IKEA might just have given us the answer, in the shape of a giant turkey-sized meatball. And no worries, the Swedish furniture company has thought about the veggies as well.
“It’s big. It’s tasty. It’s a proper Christmas showstopper. Introducing the IKEA Turkey-Sized Meatball. Find out how to get your mittens on one soon”, IKEA announced on Instagram.
An announcement that caught our – and the whole food-loving world’s – attention. Because if you happen to be a fan of IKEA’s signature Swedish meatballs with lingonberry jam and creamy sauce, this giant variant is the just the stuff that dreams are made of. According to IKEA, they “have created a more affordable alternative to the turkeys and nut roasts we are familiar with” now that costs are on the rise.
Therefore, the Scandinavian furniture chain has decided to give away some limited editions of the enormous meatball to a handful of lucky winners in the United Kingdom. Because yes, as sad as it may be for the rest of the world, the promotion is limited to inhabitants of the United Kingdom alone. For the veggies who are eager to participate, the store has put together a Veggieball Christmas Tree. Both the meatball and the tree are able to feed 25 people. To participate in the give-away, head over to IKEA UK’s Instagram page and don’t forget to read the terms and conditions.
Those of you who are not living in the United Kingdom, will have to wait and see whether or not the meatball will be spread around the world in the years to come. In the meantime, however, you could very well make your own Meatball or Veggieball Christmas Tree if you want to surprise your guests with something else this Christmas. The perfect supper for all those who are not so keen on being in the kitchen for hours on end during the holidays.
