In the never-ending list of remarkable Airbnb listings, a newcomer has just been announced which Shrek fans won’t be able to resist. After Barbie’s Malibu Dreamhouse, it’s now Shrek’s Cottage that is put up for grabs. And if you’ve always wondered where Shrek has been living all this time we can now say that his swamp is located in the Scottish Highlands, apparently. Or how to give you yet another reason to visit that Scottish dreamland. The good news? You could be staying in Shrek’s Cottage pretty soon, from October 27 to 29, to be precise. The bad news? Only three people will be able to get their hands on this opportunity.
As is often the case with Airbnb’s once-in-a-lifetime actions, Shrek’s Cottage is not a listing that is being permanently added to their catalogue. The little home will be available for just three days to a maximum of three people and bookings open on October 13, at 7 pm Central European Summer Time.
The booking will be free, even though Airbnb notes guests will have to pay for their voyage to and from Scotland. The company will also make a one time donation towards the HopScotch Children’s Charity as part of the event.

As far as to what you get, the fairytale treehouse most certainly makes the dream of any Shrek fan come true. You’ll sleep in a bed surrounded by tree roots, the furniture looks as though it comes straight from the movie and the woods in which the cottage is set look enchanting on their own.
Donkey, your host for the weekend, puts it as follows: “Shrek’s Swamp is lovely. Just beautiful. The perfect place to entertain guests. You know what I like about it? Everything. The overgrown landscaping, the modest interiors, the nice boulders, all of it. I can’t wait for guests to experience this muddy slice of paradise for themselves.”

Before booking, you should be aware of the fact that the bathroom is located about 20 meters from the cottage itself so there’s no talk of an en-suite whatsoever.

On the other hand, the stay comes with a few undeniable advantages: you’ll be able to relax in the ambiance of “earwax candlelight”, get to kick your feet up with a parfait, enjoy a stack of freshly made waffles in the morning and much more.
And of course, once your magical stay comes to an end, nothing stands in your way to stay a little longer in the Scottish Highlands and discover them in all peace
