Oman Air is set to broaden its horizons with the introduction of a new direct flight route between Muscat and Amsterdam, marking the airline’s 11th destination in Europe. Starting from July 1, 2025, travellers will be able to fly directly between Muscat and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol four times a week.
The announcement was made during a signing ceremony attended by Con Korfiatis, CEO of Oman Air, and Pieter van Oord, CEO of Royal Schiphol Group, during Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s state visit to the Netherlands. Korfiatis expressed pride in entering Amsterdam, emphasizing the strategic importance of the destination for both tourism and business exchange.
Significant milestone
Korfatis also highlighted that Europe is Oman Air’s second-largest market in terms of revenue, and Amsterdam represents a key hub for business and leisure travel. “Growing economic ties with Oman make it an ideal addition to our expanding European network,” he said.
Meanwhile, Pieter van Oord echoed those sentiments, calling the direct connection between Amsterdam and Muscat a “significant milestone in strengthening ties” between the two countries. It would be key to “enhancing connectivity for travellers in both directions. I am convinced that both countries will benefit from this connection,” he said.
The new route, marketed with a “Say Hello to Amsterdam” campaign on Oman Air’s website, will be the first to be introduced after the Sultanate’s flag carrier joins the Oneworld Alliance, which is set to take place by June 30 2025. The global partnership of 14 airlines offers benefits such as access to the Oneworld Lounge at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol for Business Class, Oneworld Emerald & Sapphire, and Sindbad Gold & Silver customers.

Under Oman’s “Vision 2040” strategic tourism and economic diversification plan the Sultanate’s Ministry of Economy is aiming to diversify trade partners, increase investment in sectors with high added-value, and raise the contribution of non-oil sectors to the gross domestic product. It is also seeking to become a more competitive investment destination and an active business environment within the global trading system. Another European hub airport connection is a step towards the realisation of those plans.
