New research by the independent organization Climate Central shows in striking images what the world would look like if no actions are taken to curb climate change. Researchers at Climate Central used elevation and population data to generate simulations based on the predicted increase. The model shows the current status all the way to a worst case scenario of a 4 degrees Celsius rise in temperature. It’s possible to observe the rise in sea levels of up to 8.9 meters (about 40 feet).
Most nations’ emissions-reduction policies and actions do not seem to reflect this long-term threat, as collectively they point toward widespread permanent inundation of many developed area.
