The Little Prince is a beloved character cherished by readers of all ages. He embodies rich symbolism, and his journey explores themes of love, wisdom, and the nature of humanity.
To bring people closer to the world of The Little Prince and its author, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Tempora, a Belgian company in the conception of artistic and historical exhibitions, has partnered with the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Foundation and Strasbourg Events to design and produce an immersive experience for literature and museum lovers alike.
The exhibition, titled Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The Little Prince among Humans, welcomed its first attendees on 18 October at Parc des Expositions in Strasbourg, France.
Inside, visitors are able to learn not only about the Little Prince but also about his creator. Inspired by his own personal experiences, Saint-Exupéry created a timeless character who continues to captivate audiences around the world.
One of the most interesting parts about this immersive experience is the unique audio guide. Narrated by the voice of the author’s mother, it leads visitors through his personal and professional endeavours. Additionally, those interested in this part of the experience could listen to archival recordings of Saint-Exupéry himself and interviews with those who knew him personally, adding a personal touch to the experience.
Through immersive installations, museums goers have the opportunity to revisit the Little Prince’s story, encounter the character himself, and explore his reflections on love and human nature. Each interactive installation transports visitors to different “worlds” inspired by the tale, providing a fresh perspectives on the beloved character’s journey.
In one room for instance, visitors step into a glowing space, reminiscent of all characters and encounters in the timeless story. In another, it seems as if the visitors are walking into a fantasy world where a light show intertwined with music brings one to a whole new universe.
This exhibition seamlessly merges the world of reality and fiction by inviting visitors to discover Saint-ExupĂ©ry’s personal belongings including his sunglasses, typewriter, and perfume, as well as photographs, manuscripts and first drawings of the Little Prince. But this is not everything. For those intrigued by his life, there are displays highlighting his childhood, passion for aviation, and love for writing. Moving through the different rooms of the exhibition is like tracing the author’s different stages of live and what was most important for him.
Upon exiting, attendees have the chance to purchase a small souvenir or see themselves on the cover of the book.
The exhibition is open for literature lovers until 4 May 2025, awaiting those in love with the Little Prince to tap into the world of Saint-Exupéry and learn more about his life and the creation of the famous character.
