Emirates is inaugurating a new lounge at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport, in Satellite 1 Terminal (SAT-1), which it is one of the first airlines to occupy. The lounge represents $5 million invested in refurbishment and relocation and is intended to mark a “new standard for premium travel”, according to an airline statement.
Emirates now operates 41 airport lounges worldwide, including seven at Dubai International Airport and 34 others across its global network. The airline also offers eligible customers access to partner lounges in select destinations.
Enough room for two A380s
But the newly-expanded Bangkok facility is now the carrier’s largest international lounge outside of the Emirates home market. On the fourth floor of the Satellite 1 Terminal, it boasts a surface area of 1,454 square metres, about three times the size of a basketball court, with capacity for 250 guests. This means it can “comfortably accommodate all premium passengers traveling on two simultaneous A380 departures,” press materials say.
Users will recognise the “signature” Emirates style, press materials promise, and find on site the usual “elegant” dining options, “serene ambiance” and “a range of amenities, including shower spas, complimentary Wi-Fi as well a rich food and beverage selection that incorporates local and international dishes, as well as classic Thai desserts.” And when they are ready to board, flyers will find their gate for is just a five minute stroll away.

35 years of flying to Thailand
Thailand experienced a boom in foreign tourist arrivals in 2024 thanks to a relaxation of entry rules and visa waivers for Chinese citizens, who represent the country’s largest non-domestic source market. That success looks set to continue, with screen-driven travel as a result of a new season of The White Lotus in 2025, as well as a Michelin Guide namecheck for Thailand in its top 10 foodie destinations for the year.
But for Emirates, Thailand is not a new destination. The lounge’s opening takes place in what is Emirates 35th year flying there and marks what the airline says is its “commitment to growing tourism and business to the key Southeast Asia travel hub.” That’s evidenced by five daily Emirates flights operating between Dubai and Bangkok, with the route served both by Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s. Twice daily flights also operate to Phuket, plus a daily non-stop service that runs between Bangkok and Hong Kong.
That capacity has a special focus on premium flyers. There are 870 First and Business Class seats daily on its routes to and from the Thai capital, singling Emirates out as the “leading foreign airline for luxury travel to and from Bangkok.”

Luxury beyond the lounge
Press materials also highlight the way that premium offer goes beyond the airport door. First and Business Class passengers enjoy complimentary chauffeur-driven service within a 60-km radius from Suvarnabhumi Airport along with exclusive check-in counters. Meanwhile, in the air, passengers benefit from the airline’s award-winning entertainment system, branded ice, featuring over 6,500 channels of on-demand entertainment. And on the A380 services, premium flyers can make use of an Onboard Lounge, private First Class suites and a shower spa.
