Dubai is preparing to host the World Expo 2020 from 1 October 2021 – 31 March 2022 (delayed dates are due to the pandemic), and as part of this the Rove Expo 2020, the only hotel located on the site of the Expo 2020, is preparing to welcome its first guests next year.
1. The hotel at the centre of it all
To celebrate the largest event ever to be held in the Arab world, Dubai’s own hotel brand Rove Hotels is launching a new location, Rove Expo 2020. The hotel is currently preparing to open on 1 October 2021 to coincide with the new opening date of Expo 2020 itself. The hotel will offer the ‘best seats in the house’ and is located at the centre of the action, right next to the global mega event’s iconic Al Wasl Plaza, where the opening and closing ceremonies and 182 days of daily live productions will take place.
2. Rove Expo 2020 hotel
Visitors to Rove Expo 2020 can expect funky interiors and a cool ambience in a hotel designed for world travellers, with the Expo and all its wonders on their doorstep. The hotel will feature:
- 312 rooms and 19 suites
- rooftop swimming pool and sundeck overlooking Al Wasl Plaza
- The Daily, Rove’s signature neighbourhood food and beverage hangout
- a grab-and-go Rove Café and Bar
- sustainable in-room amenities
- co-working spaces
- 24-hour gym.
The hotel will offer 3 different room types which will all include the essentials for ‘global Rovers’. As the only hotel on site at Expo 2020 Dubai, visitors will be able to explore the 190+ country pavilions on offer at the Expo and then relax and recharge at the hotel.

3. Plans post-Expo
Rove Expo 2020 will remain after the Expo as a permanent establishment, and it is planned that the area, District 2020, will evolve into a smart human-centric community and curated innovation system as the long-term legacy of Expo 2020 Dubai.
