You can go anywhere, to any type of landscape – from mountains, lakes, rivers and hills to wandering through woods and villages and cities. You can purely enjoy nature surrounding you and you can also visit some historical sights, it all depends on what you are interested in. In addition, you choose the level of the difficulty of the hike according to your wishes, abilities and even mood. Luckily for anyone who finds themselves in Belgium, the country if full of hiking trails and gorgeous paths that will make your hike as enjoyable as possible. 1. Discovering Limburg
This hike near the city of Genk is really a special one. Not only you pass through beautiful nature through mesmerizing forests and fields but you will also pass right through water. A truly different experience, one of a kind!
2. Following the Pede river
If you are in Brussels, you can go to a really nice hike right from the outskirts of the city. A nice starting point accessible by the public transport is the Marius Renard tram station after which you then follow the Pede river and go on a wonderful, over 20 kilometers long hike. You will follow the Pede river out of Brussels and can stop on your way at a castle and an old windmill – beautiful sights indeed!
3. Along the Ninglinspo river
For anyone who loves the sight and sound of the water, this is a perfect hike indeed. The walk connecting Ninglinspo and Chefna rivers is definitelu something to enjoy. Just keep in mind that the route along the river with plenty of rocks and small bridges is quite tiresome so be sure that you are up for the adventure.
4. Scheps Nature Reserve, Balen
f you are up for a really nice and not very exhausting walk in the nature, the Scheps Nature Reserve is the perfect choice for you. Here you will not be distracted by any sounds of cars and city or any noise for that matter, just the soothing sounds of nature and birds chirping along the way. During your walk, you will really feel like you are secluded from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and completely reconnect with nature.
5. High Vens, Ardennes
When hiking in Belgium, Ardennes definitely offer some of the most interesting trails and sights along the way and there are plenty of trails to choose from. You can enjoy different landscapes, gorgeous forests, prairie like fields and also sights on the historical castles along the way. One of the beautiful walks is the High Vens one where you can start at “Signal de Botrange”, a 24 meter tower with a beautiful view to continue walking on charming wooden walkways into endless high fens.
