Belgian manufacturer Cowboy has just launched its third e-bike model, Cross. The newest addition to the collection is supposed to be an all-road option and should therefore be able to seduce cycling enthusiasts who like to both commute to work in the city, but also enjoy a bit of all-terrain fun over the weekend. Other than an all-road design, the Cross also boasts an extra durable battery and some new software tools.
“Cowboy was born in the city, and we designed Cross to make every city greater. We have innovated around the riders’ wants and needs by increasing range, adaptability and adding suspension. Our riders can go further and think bigger in terms of where their bike can take them. Cross brings the benefits of owning a Cowboy to a whole new audience; adventurers who want more versatility, more fitness, more freedom”, Adrien Roose, Co-Founder and CEO of Cowboy, said in a statement.
Compared to their previous city models, Classic and Cruiser, the Cross boasts some extras which might be able to even push simple city dwellers to a new purchase. For example, the new battery, manufactured in Denmark, has a capacity of 540 Wh, a 50% increase compared to other models. The bike is therefore capable of covering 120 kilometres instead of 80 and this after a charging time of just 3 hours.
The design of the frame itself is interesting too. Thanks to an upside-down fork, seat post suspension and larger 60 mm tires, cycling on rough terrain (or cobblestones in the city) is made more comfortable. The integrated luggage rack contributes to an overall load capacity of 140 kilograms, which is ideal not only for trekking but also for doing groceries. Cowboy also has added Live Challenges and Check My Bike Diagnostics to the list of integrated software tools, which challenge cyclists to pedal harder and allow the company to optimise each bike’s performance remotely.
“The Cross e-bike offers a connected experience that goes beyond the norms of e-biking, packed with hardware and software innovation. Connectivity is crucial for two reasons; it ensures both the health and wellbeing of the rider and their bike while enriching the riding experience. At Cowboy, we’re not just selling bikes; we’re selling fun. Our commitment to rider-centric innovation is focused on amplifying this enjoyment and we cannot wait for our rider community to see what we have in store this year. The message is clear: come ride with us”, said Tanguy Goretti, Co-Founder and CTO of Cowboy.
The only downside of the model might be the price. At an introductory price of 3,499 euros and a regular retail price of 3,999 euros, the Cross doesn’t exactly come cheap. Since 20 March, Cross is available on the Cowboy website, in Cowboy Brand Stores and throughout its network of independent retail partners.
