Chilean airline LATAM Airlines has announced the launch of a new set of direct flights from both Brussels and Amsterdam to São Paulo. For Brussels Airport, it will be the first direct flight ever to Brazil and the first direct connection with Latin America in 25 years.
On 18 November 2025, Chilean airline LATAM Airlines announced it would be further developing its footprint in Europe. On the one hand, LATAM will be increasing the frequency of flights on three existing routes between Europe and Brazil. As of June 2026, there will be direct flights between Rome and São Paulo, as well as between Barcelona and São Paulo. Moreover, two daily flights will connect Madrid to the Brazilian city as of July 2026.
“The launch of new routes and the reinforcement of frequencies from Europe to South America mark a significant milestone in our regional growth strategy, enabling more passengers to travel directly between both continents. Our objective is to deliver a more modern, efficient, and connected travel experience, offering more options to our customers and a steadily expanding international network”, said Thibaud Morand, LATAM Airlines’ General Director for Europe, Asia, and Oceania.
On the other hand, two new routes will be created. As of April 2026, three weekly flights will connect Amsterdam to São Paulo, creating a new direct link between the Netherlands and Brazil. In June 2026, the airline will also begin operating the Brussels – São Paulo route three times a week.
A welcome addition to the flight schedule
Especially the connection between Brussels and Brazil is likely to be welcomed by business and leisure travellers alike. The route marks the first direct connection between Belgium and Brazil in history, while it will be the first direct flight from Brussels to Latin America in over 25 years.
“We warmly welcome LATAM Airlines to Brussels Airport with this new direct passenger service to São Paulo. This announcement is a significant milestone for our airport. It’s the first direct passenger service to Latin America in over 25 years. This route significantly strengthens our intercontinental network and offers our passengers direct access to one of Latin America’s most important hubs. For travellers from Brazil, Brussels Airport, in the heart of Europe, also serves as an ideal gateway to Belgium and numerous other European destinations. We look forward to a strong and lasting partnership”, said Brussels Airport’s CEO Arnaud Feist in a statement.
According to LATAM, all new flights will be operated using Boeing 787-9 aircraft, featuring 30 seats in Business Class and 270 in Economy. Passengers will be able to enjoy a high-quality culinary offering and an advanced entertainment system on board.
With the new routes and increased flight schedules, LATAM will operate 90 weekly flights from 10 different airports in Europe as of 2026. The airline services Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, London, Milano, Rome, Frankfurt, Lisbon, Amsterdam and Brussels.
