Somnio is the world’s first ocean liner conceived to provide all the benefits of superyacht ownership and the highest possible standards, with onboard amenities that reflect a service found only in the world’s finest hotels. The project developers announced a cost of 500 million euros ($596 million). “Our owners will experience only the best, as is befitting of a yacht of this nature,” Captain Erik Bredhe, co-founder of Somnio, said in a statement.
As the only residential superyacht in the world, we are delighted to work with designers that complement our exacting standards.

With a length of 222 meters, it will forever change the course of ultra-luxury travel. The service will be fantastic: it features a 10,000-bottle wine cellar, several restaurants and bars, a huge beach club and a lounge at the bow of the ship. The superyacht will set sail in 2024 and will give buyers “the intimacy of a private yacht along with the opportunity to network in a vibrant community of like-minded owners,” the developers said.
According to BOAT International, the media company specializing in superyachts, private yacht sales hit an all-time high in May with 68 boats sold after steady growth during the pandemic as wealthy consumers sought ways to travel despite Covid-19 restrictions.
The units, which will be located on six decks of the yacht, will feature their own galley, gym, library and indoor and outdoor deck dining spaces. Medical care is also a key feature to protect owners against pandemics. With just 39 luxurious and spacious apartments on six apartment decks, it is now for sale with a starting price of €9.5 million.
Among the ship’s five-star amenities are a shared wine cellar in addition to a 10,000-bottle tasting room, several restaurants, bars and a beach club with water sports.
The purpose of this type of luxury property is to create a private space that offers the option of socializing among peers, forming a community of owners.
The project led by Carl Le Souef is already under construction in Norway. Somnio Global, in alliance with Swedish design companies Tillberg Design and Winch Design, are responsible for planning the vessel.
