On the occasion of the International Women’s Rights Day, a new mural signed ZOUWI is added to the Street Art Trail in Brussels. It is the 32nd mural signed by a street artist.
The new fresco was created within the framework of the fifth edition of the 100% female international urban festival “La Belle Hip Hop“. Located at the corner of Rue d’Ophem and Rue de Flandre, it represents a frog, symbol of transition and change: rebirth.
“Among my passions, there is creativity through drawing, painting, sculpture,” the artist explained. “And there is nature, both fauna and flora, through my eyes and my camera. This fresco is the combination of my two passions”.
Eventually the fresco will be decorated with climbing plants, like a piece of jungle in the middle of the city. This is the fourth consecutive year that the Street Art Trail is associated with the festival La Belle Hip Hop to mark this special day. In 2020, 8 of the 9 frescoes enriching the trail were created by women.
Feminizing the street art trail is a priority of the Alderman for Culture, Tourism and Major Events of the city of Brussels, Delphine Houba, who does not intend to stop there.
In 2021, I continue to give priority to female artists. Offering more visibility, walls, stages, responsibilities and voices to women: this is one of the priorities of my policy. It is fundamental that women are better represented in our cultural landscape.

An objective shared by La Belle Hip Hop, whose objective, through concerts, dance, poetry, workshops, freestyle and “B’lock party” (online), has remained the same for 5 years: To convey a strong message of respect, acceptance of others and equality in difference and diversity.
