On 28 May 2026, Disney Experiences and AccuWeather launched the so-called Disney Weather Check. The tool is designed to be a first-of-its-kind weather forecasting and alerting system and is currently available across five Disney resorts.
When preparing for a trip, especially one that isn’t close to home, knowing what the weather will be like is essential in order to pack efficiently. Henceforward, guests visiting Disney parks and resorts will be guided in that decision by Disney Weather Check. In partnership with weather news company AccuWeather, the entertainment enterprise has signed a long-term agreement for a customised mobile app to inform visitors before their trip and in real-time.
“AccuWeather is collaborating with Disney to help guests enjoy the most magical experience, supported by the most detailed weather forecasts and alerts. Together with Disney Experiences, AccuWeather is delivering the most precise, localised forecasts — proven more accurate than those from any other source — that help guests plan their day efficiently, while providing peace of mind that AccuWeather is continuously monitoring weather conditions throughout their visit, with the best and latest information to optimise their experience,” said Steven R. Smith, Chief Executive Officer of AccuWeather.
Disney Weather Check, which can be downloaded through the App Store and Google Play, has been launched across five Disney resorts: Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, Aulani – a Disney Resort and Spa, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, and Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort.
“This collaboration enables our guests and operational leadership to benefit from customised, accurate, consistent, and actionable weather insights across many Disney properties. By integrating AccuWeather’s information and expertise with Disney Weather Check, we are continuing our commitment to providing the best guest experience possible,” explained Greg Hale, Chief Safety Officer and V.P., Disney Worldwide Safety Assurance.
Disney Weather Check integrates a set of specifically designed features:
- Geo-Fenced Experiences within Disney properties, activating Disney Weather Check features within the AccuWeather App. Guests receive enhanced, location-specific weather intelligence, aligned with Disney employee alerts, warnings, and advisories used to initiate uniform safety protocols.
- Custom Hourly Forecast, providing a specific hourly forecast for Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, and Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort, including real-time weather to support informed decision-making and enhanced guest safety.
- AccuWeather MinuteCast, providing a hyperlocal forecast of precipitation type and intensity, as well as precise start and end times for rain or snow weather over the upcoming four hours, pinpointed to a person’s exact GPS location.
- AccuWeather RealFeel Temperature is an index that considers more than temperature, plus one additional variable. It is based on 14 factors, leading to a more precise result.
Moreover, the app will show visitors a detailed and highly localised UV Index. This doesn’t just allow guests to know whether or not they should be using sunscreen during their visit; it also allows them to track their UV exposure hour-by-hour.
