The 2025 Grammy Awards have officially wrapped up, and what a night it was! Beyoncé finally took home Album of the Year for Cowboy Carter, making history yet again. Kendrick Lamar dominated with Record of the Year and Song of the Year for Not Like Us, while rising star Chappell Roan secured Best New Artist. With the Grammys behind us, awards season is just heating up, and now it’s time to save the dates for the BAFTAs, SAG Awards, and all the other major 2025 ceremonies.
1. BAFTA Awards – 16 February
UK’s most prestigious award ceremony, the 78th BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) Awards, is set for 16 February, at London’s Royal Festival Hall, with David Tennant returning as host.
This year’s most-nominated film is Conclave, a political thriller directed by Edward Berger, receiving 12 nominations, followed closely behind, with 11 nominations, by Emilia Pérez, a Spanish crime musical directed by Jacques Audiard. In the major acting categories, Cynthia Erivo is in the running for Leading Actress for her performance in Wicked alongside Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez), Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Hard Truths), Mikey Madison (Anora), Demi Moore (The Substance), and Saoirse Ronan (The Outrun). The Leading Actor category features Adrien Brody for his role in The Brutalist, Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), Ralph Fiennes (Conclave), Hugh Grant (Heretic), Sebastian Stan (The Apprentice).
14 out of 24 nominees in this year’s BAFTA performance categories mark their first-ever recognition by the British Academy. Among them are: Yura Borisov (Anora), Kieran Culkin (A Real Pain), Ariana Grande (Wicked), and Selena Gomez (Emilia Pérez), all making their debut on the nominee list.
2. Spirit Awards – 22 February
The Film Independent Spirit Awards are known for celebrating non-mainstream, experimental indie movies and low-budget filmmaking, focusing on artistic innovation, and diversity, highlighting bold storytelling and emerging talent. The is scheduled for 22 February, taking place at the Santa Monica Pier in California, with Aidy Bryant set to host the event.
The 40th annual Spirit Awards will honour some of the year’s most acclaimed independent films, with Anora and I Saw the TV Glow leading the way with six nominations each. In the Best Lead Performance category, nominees include Amy Adams, Hunter Schafer, Ryan Destiny, Colman Domingo, Keith Kupferer, Mikey Madison, Demi Moore, Justice Smith, and June Squibb. And, one of the most talked-about nominees is Sebastian Stan, recognized for his transformative portrayal of a young Donald Trump in The Apprentice.
3. SAG Awards – 23 February
The 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards is among the list of must-watch events, bringing Hollywood’s finest stars together on 23 February at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. With the ever-charming Kristen Bell as host, the night promises to be captivating.
This year’s race is packed with — Pamela Anderson (The Last Snowgirl), Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez), Mikey Madison (Anora) and Demi Moore (The Substance), all vying for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, while the male category spotlight Adrien Brody (The Brutalist), Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), Daniel Craig (Queer), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), and Ralph Fiennes (Conclave).
TV nominations feature an exciting mix of some established favourites and new contenders. Shōgun leads the pack with five nominations, including the highly competitive Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, where it competes with Bridgerton, The Day of the Jackal, The Diplomat and Slow Horses. Comedy also has a strong lineup this year, with the Outstanding Ensemble in a Comedy Series category featuring hits like Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks, Nobody Wants This, Only Murders in the Building and Shrinking.
4. Brit Awards – 1 March
This ceremony is a must-watch for true pop culture fans. The UK’s most prestigious annual music awards, representing the British Phonographic Industry, the BRIT Awards has been the country’s long-term major celebrity event. Scheduled for 1 March at London’s O2 Arena, the ceremony will be hosted by Jack Whitehall and is set to feature performances from artists such as Charli XCX, Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan.
Charli XCX leads the competition with five nominations, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, for Brat, and Song of the Year, for Guess featuring Billie Eilish. Dua Lipa follows closely with four nominations, competing in categories such as Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for Radical Optimism.
Notably, The Beatles have received their first BRIT Award nomination since 1977, with Now and Then nominated for Song of the Year. The song was partly produced using AI technology, which helped to refine original recordings of John Lennon’s vocals, while Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney completed the track in 2022, incorporating guitar parts from George Harrison that were recorded in 1995.
5. The Academy Awards – 2 March
Hollywood’s biggest night of the year, the 97th Academy Awards ceremony, the well-known Oscars, is set on Sunday, 2 March, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, with the ceremony broadcast live on ABC.
Leading the nominations is Emilia Pérez, with 13 categories, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress. The Brutalist and Wicked share second place, each securing 10 nominations.
This year, the Oscars welcomes a lot of first-time nominees, among those pop star Ariana Grande with the Best Supporting Actress nomination for her performance in Wicked. Young Russian actor Yura Borisov is also marking a major milestone in his career with his first-ever Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Anora. Clarence Maclin is the first person who was formerly incarcerated to be nominated for an Academy Award – he will be competing in the Best Adapted Screenplay category for his performance in the prison drama Sing Sing.
