Tripadvisor has recently unveiled its list of the best hotels in its yearly Travelers Choice Awards: Best of the Best Hotels, spotlighting the top one percent of the platform’s 1.6 million listings worldwide.
To determine the winners Tripadvisor analysed the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and ratings submitted for each subcategory between 1 January and 31 December 2024.
“Tripadvisor’s Best of the Best Hotels captures the opinions of millions of travellers worldwide and offers trusted guidance for travellers to plan their best stays. Known for their outstanding hospitality, premium amenities and prime locations, Tripadvisor’s Best of the Best Hotels stand out as top choices in their respective destinations and across the globe,” said Kristen Dalton, President of Tripadvisor.
The winning hotels are spread across ten categories, ranging from the overall Top Hotels to specialized categories like All-Inclusive, B&Bs and Inns, Family-Friendly, Luxury, Small and Boutique, and Pet-Friendly. Moreover, Tripadvisor has once again partnered with CESAR Canine Cuisine, a brand under Mars, Incorporated, to present its Pet-Friendly hotel subcategory. For 2025, the top-rated pet-friendly hotel globally is Hotel Moments Budapest, situated in the centre of Budapest.
This year also introduces three new subcategories: One of a Kind, Treat Yourself, and a special list celebrating the platform’s 25th anniversary.
Here are the top 10 hotels in the world according to Tripadvisor’s 2024 data:
1. Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya – Akumal, Mexico
The best hotel according to the 2024 data is Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya, located in Tulum, Mexico. This resort also earned the number one ranking worldwide for both its all-inclusive offerings and its “Treat Yourself” experience.
Akumal, whose name translates to “Place of the Turtle” in Maya,” embodies its meaning, as dedicated snorkelers frequently come across these creatures at the resort. Additionally, its clear waters are full of bright coral and fish, creating the perfect snorkelling environment.
2. Grandvrio Ocean Resort Danang – Dien Ban, Vietnam
Grandvrio Ocean Resort Danang in Vietnam earned second place, due to its spa and wellness offerings. According to Tripadvisor, notable features of the hotel are its private pool and hot spring bath, focusing on mind-body harmony. The resort also offers an Onsen bath inspired by Japanese culture, making it the first hotel to provide this service.
Located on the beach between Da Nang City and Hou An, the building offers rooms with a spectacular ocean view. For visitors with children, there is the Kids Club that promises to bring them play and joy while the parents relax. The resort is also home to three restaurants offering different types of cuisine ranging from the West to Vietnamese and Japanese traditional dishes.
3. Gokulam Grand Turtle on the Beach – Kovalam, India
Moreover, India’s Gokulam Grand Turtle on the Beach resort secured the third spot, recognized for its comfort including breakfast in the room and pool with a view. The retreat is situated on Hawa Beach in Kovalam and invites guests to choose between different types of rooms, designed to accommodate the needs of every traveller. Guests can choose from 4 options with regard to accommodation that include the deluxe room, the Arabian sea view room, the signature suite, and the duplex suite.
For the foodies, the restaurant, café, and in-house bar offer new experiences with special dishes and new dining experiences. The restaurant, named Catamaran, intertwines different cuisines and ingredients while bringing guests new dishes.
4. Romance Istanbul Hotel – Istanbul, Türkiye
The Romance Hotel is a luxury accommodation in the heart of Istanbul, that brings guests the experience of mythical Talisman shirts of the Ottoman sultans. Talisman is known to be an object that has special power or effect. As part of the hotel’s decoration in the Ottoman palace style, each room is furnished and designed based on a different talismanic shirt with a unique story. Moreover, replicas of the original talismanic shirts are displayed in the hotel.
For finishing touches and complementing the history of the hotel, the corridors are decorated with hand-crafted ceramic miniatures of both talismanic and famous buildings of the city.

6. St. Ermin’s Hotel, Autograph Collection – London, UK
St. Ermin’s Hotel is part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection in the heart of St James in London. The four-star hotel offers contemporary amenities and premium bath products. According to travellers, the unique thing about the hotel is the butler service.
Surprisingly, the hotel is home to 35,000 bees, which can be found on the third floor of the hotel in a place known as the “bee hotel” where they produce honey used in the hotel’s kitchen. Guests can observe them from behind a glass. In addition, many Tripadvisor reviews praise the concierge for providing exceptional service while highlighting their helpfulness in securing theatre tickets, offering local insights, and giving local advice.
7. Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana – Cap Cana, Dominican Republic, Caribbean
Located on the shore of Juanillo Beach in the Dominican Republic, Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana is an adults-only, all-inclusive resort. It offers pools with swim-up bars, 25 restaurants and bars, and a fitness centre, accommodating every traveller’s needs.
The hotel is minutes away from the championship golf courses, eco-parks, a state-of-the-art marina, and other attractions. The resort boasts 375 oceanfront suites with amenities such as stocked minibars and private balconies.
8. French Quarter Inn – Charleston, South Carolina, USA
This boutique hotel is nestled in the heart of Charleston’s historic district, and it is celebrated for its blend of Southern hospitality and luxury. Operating since 2002, the hotel offers different amenities such as a fitness centre, complimentary gourmet breakfast, a beloved lobby bar, valet parking, and complimentary bicycles.
