Tourism of Porto and North of Portugal has released a series of promotional films that highlight the great tourism potential of a region that, despite all the setbacks, reached in 2020 the best national performance in number of guests. In the first five months of the year, it registered the best result in terms of overnight stays of Portuguese tourists.
This is a good indicator that the national market is again motivated to discover our region. The films we are now presenting, show what they can expect from Porto and North of Portugal: safety, diversity and quality!

The launch of the promotional films took place at the newly opened ‘Vinha Boutique Hotel’ in Vila Nova de Gaia, and included the screening of the first film of the series, which explored the theme of Luxury, Fashion & Lifestyle.
The films, which last approximately 15 minutes, are to be shown on TAP long-haul flights, Portuguese Trains, the National Express Network, and will be widely distributed by the international delegations of Turismo de Portugal, considering that they will be available in Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Dutch.
Led by the experienced travel guide Gabriel Najenson, better known as ‘Gabo The Guide’, each film takes travelers on a complete and immersive journey through Porto, Minho, Douro and Trás-os-Montes. It’s an invitation to discover the best and most exclusive attractions that the region has to offer.
Whether you belong to those looking for exclusive experiences in the best hotels, or nature lovers, or those fascinated by history and urban culture, Porto and North of Portugal has products capable of responding to every desire.

Through creative and original content, the region’s tourism has made a strong bet on tourism promotion. This is the latest initiative of national and international tourism promotion of Porto e North of Portugal through audiovisual media.
1. Luxury, fashion and lifestyle
The first episode takes the viewer on a journey to the best luxury, fashion and lifestyle experiences in the region of Porto and Northern Portugal. Gabo, the guide, starts his adventure in the beautiful city of Porto, where fashion and lifestyle are being redefined.
In downtown Porto all luxury brands are present, both international and local ones. An opportunity to visit to a world-class Portuguese tailor could not be missed! Gabo then crosses the Marão Mountains to arrive at famous Virago Palace Hotel, in the region of Trás-os-Montes. Viewers’ appetites will be tempted more than once: Seabass with cauliflower puree and scarlet shrimp, the famous tender meat from the Tras-os-Montes region, a glass of wine from the Douro Region.
On this incredible journey, Gabo gets to visit the historical Castelo de Bragança, the famous G Pousada Restaurant and its Michelin-star cuisine, the vineyards along the Douro Valley, and more.

2. Food and wine
The second episode invites the viewers to taste, to smell, to enjoy some of the best Portuguese wines in the world. The North of Portugal is home to dozens of award-winning wines, some of which Gabo gets to taste and present for the viewers.
In the region there have also bloomed several Michelin-star restaurants and fabulous hotels with breathtaking views. The journey starts in Porto – city of the world-famous Port wine – and continues in the lower Minho region, where Gabo gets to visit the Quinta da Aveleda and Quinta da Lixa. The following destination is the city of Vila Real where he stops to enjoy a break at Casa LapĂŁo. Many bottles of wine will be uncorked on this unique adventure along the Douro River. The campaign is quite broad and will have three more themes: Nature & Active, History and Heritage, and City Break. The latter will include discovery visits to cities such as Braga and GuimarĂŁes. Stay tuned for the upcoming episodes.
