Times are changing. Quickly. Some decades ago, a standard meal often consisted of a piece of meat, some veggies, and a portion of potatoes. Most of us can vividly remember those times as, as we said, they’re not far behind us and some people still eat this way. But for a couple of years now, we’ve been changing our diets massively. Due to climate change, we’ve become more aware of the impact of our food on the planet, meaning many people decided to change things up. For some, that means eating less meat, for others, it means skipping animal products altogether.
Even though becoming a vegan might be a step too far for most of us, vegetarianism might be doable. Sure, you can’t eat any meat or fish anymore, yet you can still enjoy milk, a piece of cheese or let’s say an omelet. Once you’ve come to terms with being veggie, you can still decide to become vegan if you want to – that’s up to you of course. Yet even though being veggie is a lot easier in terms of logistics than being vegan, sometimes it can still be quite a struggle to find the right ingredients at a fair price or to come across a veggie-friendly restaurant.
If you’ve been vegetarian for a while, you’ve probably noticed that some cities are more veggie-friendly than others. In some you’ll find markets full of cheap yet delicious vegetables and fruit, while others are quite expensive when it comes to getting your veggie belly filled. And whilse some might overflow with restaurants serving up hearty, veggie dishes, others score quite badly on this front. After a while, you’ll catch up on this but as a beginner, things can be rather complicated.

Vegetables and Restaurants
To make your life as a vegetarian easier, Nestpick has therefore come up with a handy little list, ranking 75 different cities from very veggie-friendly to not at all. In order to make this list, the company mainly bases itself on two factors: the price of plant-based ingredients and the number of restaurants serving veggie-friendly dishes. And it might not come as a surprise, but London comes in at the top of the list, closely followed by Berlin. As the top ten shows, the UK scores best when it comes to veggie-friendliness, followed by Germany and the USA. See for yourself at Nestpick.
