The small Scottish island of Pladda has gone on sale for the price of a city flat.
Located off the coast of Arran, the 28-acre island includes a five-bedroom house, a helipad and lighthouse dating back to the 1790s.
Listed with Knight Frank, the island is currently on sale for just 350,000€, an amount that could buy just a three-bedroom flat in Glasgow or Edinburgh.
The current owners—fashion designers Derek and Sally Morten—bought the property about 30 years ago from the Arran Estate. However, Pladda has been empty for several years and needs renovation before it can be lived on again.
The island is 50 km (31 miles) from Glasgow and can be reached via boat from Ardrossan, a town in southwestern Scotland.
Pladda boasts more than 100 species of birds, and views that stretch across the Kintyre and Ayrshire coasts, to Ailsa Craig and even Northern Ireland on a clear day.
The island’s sale comes at a time when the housing market reached a record high, with Scotland’s average house price of 240,000€, according to mortgage lender Halifax.
