Tapping into wider trends for themed cruises and their growing appeal with a younger segment of passengers, Royal Caribbean has revealed it is launching two new cruises with “Eurovision itineraries” that, the company says in press materials, should “promise non-stop fun.”
Two Grand Final Viewing Party sailings
A number of cruise companies, including International Carnival, Cunard, Royal Caribbean, and P&O, have celebrated the joy, tears and laughter of the popular international song contest on sailings since 2023, but having become a Eurovision partner this year, Royal Caribbean has now announced a double whammy of cruises focusing on the pop extravaganza.
First off, two exclusive “Grand Final Viewing Party” sailings will depart from Barcelona on 11 May 2025, and from Italy’s former Roman port Civitavecchia on 15 May. Taking place aboard the Allure of the Seas, the seven-night voyages offer a line-up of Eurovision-themed experiences such as specially themed cocktail events, karaoke nights, a chance to show off your knowledge of Eurovision trivia at quizzes, a gala dinner and guest performances. The sailings will make port calls at Palma de Mallorca, Provence, Florence/Pisa, Rome, and Naples/Capri.
“Throwback” sailing and a chance to win tickets to Basel’s final
Secondly, for those who can’t make the Grand Final voyages, the cruise line also proposes a Eurovision “Throwback Party” trip, with “more glitz, more glam, and even more heart-thumping Euro-beats” aboard the Independence of the Seas. Departing 18 June 2025 from the port of Southampton, England, the three-night getaway will immerse guests in Eurovision nostalgia and treat them to a stop in historic and UNESCO-listed Bruges.
But the Eurovision promotional fun does not stop there. A Royal Caribbean Instagram competition could give fans the opportunity to win a trip on the throwback sailing, plus $600 to spend onboard, and two tickets to the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final in Basel, Switzerland.
An absolute hit
Describing the line’s previous Eurovision cruises as “an absolute hit”, Gerard Nolan, vice president of Europe, Middle East and Africa for Royal Caribbean International, said the sailings had given fans the “unique opportunity to take their Eurovision viewing parties to the next level throughout Europe with more adventure and fellow fans than ever before.
“Royal Caribbean’s Eurovision Song Contest adventures will be even more memorable next summer,” Nolan added, “with special experiences, from themed parties to dance the night away to added Eurovision twists at karaoke.”
