The Cruise Globe app offers a wide range of possibilities, going from live tracking to the purchase of a physical cruise souvenir. Previously, some of those functions were already available through a desktop version.
In February 2025, the first desktop version of Cruise Globe was launched. Since then, 60,000 users have used the software, and as of September 2025, the offer is completed with an app available on both iPhone and Android devices. The application includes earlier functions such as the possibility to create a free collection of digital maps showing a user’s own sailings (viewable on a 3D globe) and the purchase of physical cruise cards and printed maps as a cruise souvenir.
However, the Cruise Globe app comes with an exciting new feature: live cruise tracking. By using AIS satellite data, app users can get a satellite view of cruises sailing across the globe. This means that those who want can get an exact route that is being travelled by a ship, as well as its current position, and extra statistics such as the number of passengers, its speed, and the anticipated route. Moreover, when tracking a specific cruise ship, users can get an overview of deals for future sailings on the same route.
A simpler way to keep track
Matthew Jones, Will Ellison, and Emma Le Teace – friends, avid travellers, and cruise enthusiasts – started Cruise Globe as a way to improve the way in which people remember their cruises. Instead of logging cruises in notebooks or Excel, they wanted to come up with a better option for people to keep track of their ocean voyages. The app, therefore, allows users to digitally record their cruises going back as far as 2015.
“The launch of our new mobile app marks a huge milestone for The Cruise Globe. We started this as a passion project for cruise fans and we’ve now grown it into a community of over 60,000 users in just six months, and we’re just getting started. On a daily basis I receive more than 20 messages from users asking when the app is coming, so we are delighted that we are now putting the exact routes of their entire cruise history right in their pocket. The app form is perfect for easily sharing past cruises with friends and family or a great storytelling tool to use onboard when chatting with other guests”, said Matthew Jones, one of the app’s creators.
In order to get started, cruise enthusiasts will need to install the app and sign up for free with an email address. Then, they will have to enter the name of the cruise ship, its departure port, and the date of the sailing to start tracking.
