If you’re lucky enough to be over 18 and under 26 years old and have parents or caregivers who love going on cruises, you could also be in with a chance of a free cruise trip with Virgin Voyages in 2024.
The Florida headquartered, adult-only cruise line, has only been in operation since 2021 and currently has a three-ship fleet: the Scarlet Lady, Resilient Lady and the Valiant Lady, each of them being able to welcome around 2,700 passengers. The line’s next addition, the Brilliant Lady, is due to launch in 2025.
“If you’re old enough to vote, you’re old enough to sail”
While its cruises are usually exclusively for ‘grown ups’, Virgin is now opening up the offer of a free voyage for “kids”, as long as they are being taken on holiday by their parents and are the bigger type of kid, aged 18 to 26.
“‘If you’re old enough to vote, you’re old enough to sail’ was the thinking that inspired Virgin Voyages’ (cheeky) definition of ‘children,’” Virgin said in a press release. “As a brand celebrated for its adults-only atmosphere, the company is changing its tune and answering the call of its sailors to bring their (adult) children on board.”
The ultimate trip
Promotional material asks “All the other guys are doing Kids Sail Free, so why not us?” and suggests that a cruise is a great holiday, whatever occasion you wish to mark. “Book your family on the ultimate graduation/birthday/don’t say we never do anything for you trip now and save.”
As well as the potential savings, there is a wide choice of itineraries, including Caribbean sailings out of Port Miami, standout stops all over Europe and the Mediterranean, not to mention iconic US destinations, like New York, coastal California and Alaska.
Second sailors only
To take advantage of the complimentary trip, would-be passengers will need to be on their parents’ health insurance and named as “second sailors” sailing with their parent or carer. Anyone else booked on the sailing in the party will pay full price.
Unusually, the deal is open to passengers with reservations in a wide range of cabin types, the only exceptions being the biggest type and, at the opposite end, the cheapest option available, where voyagers are assigned leftover cabins after everyone else books their choice.
With the exception of the company’s 28 December sailings on the Scarlet Lady and Resilient Lady ships, and the Valiant Lady’s 30 December departure, the offer can be applied to any voyages until the end of the year, but to benefit from deal, tickets must be reserved before 23 August 2024.
