After launching “Neo Nomad” visas in November, Kazakhstan is now expanding on the opportunities of housing digital nomads and young professionals amid its borders, with two new options that allow people to work and live the Central Asia’s biggest country.
1. Neo Nomad
The Neo Nomad visa introduced in November is the equivalent of what other countries call a Digital Nomad Visa. It is specifically designed for professionals and digital entrepreneurs who want to live in Kazakhstan and work remotely while maintaining their foreign income.
The visa allows for multiple entries and is valid for one year, extendable by up to one additional year. It also family members and dependents of the holder to obtain a visa for Kazakhstan for the same duration, “though work and religious activities are restricted under Kazakh law,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explains.

2. Digital Nomad
The Digital Nomad visa, on the other hand, is intended for highly sought-after professionals in the IT industry who, instead of working remotely while living in Kazakhstan, seek to relocate to the country to work there. It is an easier point of entry for those wanting to obtain permanent residence.
Valid for up to one year and for a single entry, it can obtained through the Visa and Migration Portal. Once obtained, the single-entry can be turned into a multiple-entry visa, also valid for up to one year, through the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This options “provides an opportunity to integrate into Kazakhstan’s workforce and contribute to its economic development,” says the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

3. Permanent Residence
Lastly, the visa for permanent residence provides a structured pathway for foreign professionals with in-demand skills in fields such as medicine, science, innovation, education and the creative industries, to settle into the country while completing the permanent residence application process.
Valid for up to 90 days, for single or multiple entries, the visa can be issued once per year. It allows holders get a glimpse of the local job market, culture and lifestyle before deciding whether or not they want to apply for permanent residency.
