As the war in Ukraine continues, several companies and organizations around the world—including those from the aviation sector—have come up with various ways to help those in need. Here are some donation programs airlines have implemented in to support Ukraine.
1. Donate miles with United Airlines
United Airlines and its partners are now accepting cash and United MileagePlus donations to help people in Ukraine. Charities you can donate to through United Airlines include the American Red Cross, the World Central Kitchen, Airlink Flight (a disaster relief organization), and Americares (a charity that sends emergency responders to disaster zones). To donate, visit the Miles on a Mission homepage and select the organization that you want to donate to. United Airlines allows you to donate as many miles as you want with a minimum of 1,000 miles.
If you make a cash donation by April 15, you can earn the following:
- Donations of $50-$99: 250 MileagePlus bonus award miles.
- Donations of $100-$24: 500 bonus award miles.
- Donations of $250: 1,000 bonus award miles.
2. Donate Delta SkyMiles
You can support charities by donating Delta SkyMiles through SkyWish. The miles are then used to provide help in a variety of ways including volunteers assisting with disaster relief and recovery during national emergencies. On this page you can see all participating SkyWish charities.
3. Donate JetBlue points
JetBlue has a long list of donation partners. You can select multiple charities and donate from a minimum of 500 points up to 500,000 points. Some of JetBlue’s charities that are responding to the Ukraine crisis are World Central Kitchen, Americares, and the American Red Cross. Explore other charities here.
4. Donate TAP Portugal miles
TAP Portugal supports humanitarian aid actions to two NGOs that currently provide support to Ukraine. You can donate your TAP miles to the Médicos do Mundo and Ukrainian Refugees UAPT NGOs and help in their continuous contribution to the Ukrainian population. Both NGOs are supporting refugees in travel or those in neighboring countries through essential goods, including food, clothing, medical and humanitarian aid. The NGOs also provide medication, hospital and sanitary supplies, to the areas of Ukraine that are most in need. To support these organizations, choose the number of miles you want to donate here.
5. Donate American Airlines’ miles
The miles you donate to American Airlines’ Miles for Social Good program will be directed to Airlink—a humanitarian relief organization that connects airlines and nonprofits to help communities in crisis. Airlink is currently transporting physicians and relief workers to Eastern Europe to assist Ukraine. Donate here.
6. Donate miles with Miles4Migrants
Charity Miles4Migrants accepts donations of air miles to help refugees and asylum seekers affected by other global conflicts.
