Have you ever been seduced by a hotel? It happened to me recently, when I stayed in Hotel Lone, a beautiful design hotel in Rovinj, Croatia, one of my ever-favorite cities on the Adriatic coast.
Situated next to the beautiful Golden Cape forest park, just a short walk along the seaside from the center of the town, the location is perfect for anyone who likes to have it all – peace and quiet in pristine nature and closeness of the lively town.
Everything about Hotel Lone is exquisite and will please anyone with high sense of aesthetics – the first Croatian design hotel is truly unique and well thought through to the very last detail. Created by a team of renowned Croatian architects, designers and conceptual artists and with the visual identity conceived by one of the best Croatian creative agencies Bruketa & Žinić OM, the 5* hotel entails the essence of Croatian contemporary design that is in perfect relationship with the surroundings as well as the history.
Looking from the outside, you will be mesmerized by the beautiful minimalist curves of the hotel and white facade with dominating horizontal lines, resembling a luxurious cruise ship anchored in nature. The design and structure of the hotel, created by the award-winning architectural studio 3LHD perfectly fit into the terrace landscape, making Hotel Lone one of the Rovinj’s most famous landmarks. The unconventional ‘Y’ shape of the hotel was used to create functional space with the central lobby around which public facilities are grouped, as well as making it possible for each of the bedrooms to offer a park or a sea view.
The interior of the hotel is equally, if not even more impressive – the clean, oval lines continue within, making an interplay between the levels and the vertical of the high, bright and spacious central lobby a perfect setting for the carefully selected design furniture by Numen/For Use and artwork by some of the most renowned Croatian contemporary artists like Ivana Franke and Silvio Vujičić. Wherever you look, interesting views will open in front of you, with the fluidity of the space being one of the key themes to guide your eye.
The use of the materials and colors in the interior is also intentional and deliberate, with the white-beige stone lobby in line with the color of the region’s beaches and the furniture of a sandy yellow or green touch. The welcoming and discreet staff will only round up the overall impression, dressed in perfectly tailored uniforms designed by the Croatian fashion design icons, studio I-GLE.
From the beginning till the end of your stay you will feel like all of your senses are being constantly pampered. From the sight of the exquisite design right down to the last detail combining with the tactile sensations created with the use of luxurious and textured materials, to hearing soft music playing and the sounds of murmuring water, and finally to taking in the scent of nature coming inside with whims of the sea and Mediterranean plants.
It is very difficult to choose which part of the stay at Hotel Lone is the best, from waking up in a super-comfortable bed of the beautifully designed rooms some of which even have massage pools built in the terrace, all with the gorgeous terrace view either of the park or the sea, to spending time in the hotel’s garden with the outdoor seawater pool with waterfalls, geysers and beautiful sun decks. If I had to pick my favorite part of the spring stay it would probably be the pure hedonism of the Mediterranean-inspired wellness center – from enjoying the indoor pool in the morning, quick exercise in the well-equipped fitness center before going for a walk in the gorgeous Golden Cape forest park to ending the day with a massage, relaxation in the sauna and hydro massage pools.
Being in love with the area and the city of Rovinj, visiting every year, I didn’t think it was possible to fall in love with it even more – the Hotel Lone experience just brought it to another level, making me fall for it as well, looking forward to coming back soon and creating what seems to me to be the start of a beautiful relationship.
