On 22 November 2022, Hainan Airlines is scheduled to launch its latest connection between Brussels and Chongqing, central China. The carrier is expanding its service between the two countries with this new route, which is already a fourth non-stop link, complementing its established flights to Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen.
Set to operate three times per week, the service will offer return trips on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Flight HU470, headed to Chongqing, will leave Brussels at 11:20 am (Central European Time (CET)) and arrive at its destination at 5:10 am (China Standard Time (CST)), the next day, taking approximately 10 hours and 50 minutes.
The return trip, flight HU469, will depart Chongqing at 2:50 am (CST) and reach Brussels at 7:35 am (CET), with an estimated duration of 11 hours and 45 minutes.

Chongqing is a city in southwest China of utmost importance, especially given its economic and geopolitical role. Despite not being as popular as Beijing or Shanghai, it is one of China’s four direct-administered municipalities in the country. Its strategic location along the Yangtze River and its role in the Belt and Road Initiative make it a vital link for international commerce.
This expansion brings the total to 17 weekly flights connecting Brussels and China, ensuring access to all major Chinese regions. Essentially, the route supports the growing exchanges in culture, trade, and economics between the European Union and China.
Hainan Airlines already maintains a strong presence at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (CKG), offering direct international routes to destinations such as Seattle, Paris, Milan, Madrid, Osaka, Bangkok, and Auckland. Within China, the airline connects the city to key domestic locations such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Haikou, and Urumqi.

The only Skytrax Five-Star airline in mainland China, Hainan Airlines is expanding its global network pat 70 international and regional routes, providing travellers with even more opportunities for adventures.
This move comes after China extended its visa-free entry to 75 countries earlier in 2025. This policy aims to boost foreign tourism and increase the country’s cultural and economic ties by facilitating easier travel.
Bookings are available through Hainan Airlines’ website, mobile application, the respective authorised organisations, WeChat, and hotline number.
