German airline Eurowings offers new innovative services and products in response of the constantly changing aviation sector and consumers’ needs. For instance, Eurowings is the first German airline to launch a free middle seat that can be booked before the flight.
The test phase of the new product has successfully been completed over the past few weeks and has raised an exceptionally high level of interest. More than 5,000 Eurowings passengers have already booked the free middle seat via Eurowings Service Center, even though the new product has not been actively promoted yet. Starting from September 2020, the middle seat will also be bookable from Eurowings website.
Jens Bischof, Eurowings CEO, explains that passengers now want more comfort and safety distance on board. “The positive feedback during the test phase showed us that our guests want more comfort and distance onboard,” he said. According to Eurowings CEO, low-cost services no longer works since Covid-19. Thus, he assumse that the free middle seat will become a very important product for the transport sector in the future.
Free middle seat available on all Eurowings routes within Europe
Thanks to this innovation, free middle seats will be available the entire aircrafts of all Eurowings flights, while previously they were only part of the BIZ class tariff. The new free middle seat can be booked in all seat rows and on all Eurowings routes within Europe – subject to availability. The starting price for the new product is 18 euros per flight. If a passenger decides to take advantage of the new offer, the free seat will be blocked as soon as it is booked and is therefore guaranteed not to be given away otherwise. Currently, the free middle seat can be booked via the Eurowings Service Center calling the number +49 180 6 320 320. Starting from September 2020, the product will also be available on the website eurowings.com.
