Until not so long ago, you would not have thought of Brussels as a bike-friendly city. And even if the Belgian capital still has a long way to go, the COVID-19 lockdown definitely sat things in motion. People started taking their bike to get some air or to go to work, bike sales drastically went up and the city responded with an extra 40 kilometers of bicycle paths. It seems like the ideal way to discover Brussels is now by bike and you can even go on an organized two-day micro adventure.
At the beginning of the year, no one could have imagined the summer of 2020 looking like it does now. We are forced to change our plans, meaning most of us spend more time at home and in our own city. But that does not have to mean that you cannot go out and explore. If you want to see Brussels from another angle, meet some nice people and fill your belly with yummy food, the biking micro adventure organized by Pro Velo and Visit.Brussels might be the perfect opportunity.
1. Riding a boat and caving a church
The two organizations put their forces together and came up with an original mini getaway. During one weekend, you will be travelling through Brussels by bike, accompanied by fourteen other enthusiasts and a great guide. And of course you will not only be on your bike. There are four meals included in the price, made with organic and local ingredients, and you will be sleeping in an “unusual” place. Other than that, there are tons of activities on the schedule. You will be caving in one of the biggest churches in the world, riding a boat on the canal, tasting some of the finest beers and so on. Trust us, there will be no time to get bored.
If all of this sounds like music to your ears yet you are a little afraid the biking-side will be too much for you, do not worry. Like we said, the tour takes two days and you will have to ride your bike for 20 kilometers a day at the very most. Other than that, you will have to bring your own bike, which means that you do not have to get acquainted with one you do not understand. So pack your bags, your clothes, your bike and get ready for a micro adventure you will not soon forget. Oh, and do not forget to subscribe before Monday August 10!
