Delta Air Lines has revealed a huge expansion set for summer 2025, focused on additions to its transatlantic services. Four new routes will connect US cities to Italian destinations, and a further four will fan out across Spain, Ireland and Belgium.
The increase in services includes the following new routes:
- three flights a week from Atlanta to Brussels;
- four a week from Atlanta to Naples;
- three from Boston to Barcelona;
- four flights per week Boston to Milan;
- four flights a week from Detroit to Dublin;
- four flights a week from Minneapolis St Paul to Rome;
- and daily flights from New York JFK to Catania.
Italy
Already claiming to be the largest U.S. carrier in the Italian market, Delta now adds new Naples, Milan, Rome and Catania routes as part of a 10% year-on-year increase in the carrier’s services there. The move will also see it become the first U.S. airline to offer direct flights to Catania, Sicily, with a daily schedule seeming to express confidence that the route commentators describe as “long-unserved” will prove to be popular.
All the new Italy routes will go airbourne in May 2025, looking to serve summer tourists heading to the popular Amalfi coast and tap into what is predicted to be a busy Jubilee Year for Rome and the Vatican.
Barcelona, Brussels, Dublin and beyond
Complementing existing services from other US airports, Delta has also announced further services to Barcelona, Brussels and Dublin.
In addition to current routes from Atlanta and New York-JFK, a route from Boston to Barcelona begins three times a week from May 2025.
Similarly, a four-times-weekly service from Detroit to Dublin, will add to existing Dublin services from Atlanta, Boston, New York-JFK, and Minneapolis St. Paul.
And adding another direct route between Europe and the US, a three-times-weekly nonstop service from Atlanta to Brussels, will provide an alternative to the existing JFK flight.
What’s more, four additional weekly flights will serve Athens, making Delta the foremost US airline in Greece, while flyers to Germany will also find an increase in daily flights to Munich.
New facilities
In press materials, the airline is keen to shine a spotlight not only on its “over 700 weekly flights to 33 European destinations and beyond” but also on its new facilities, including a “recently opened a stunning Delta One Lounge at JFK, with more to come at LAX, BOS, and SEA.” Also worth noting are “the rollout of free international Wi-Fi and increased premium seating across our fleet” as the airline strives to give customers “the best in connectivity and comfort from the moment they arrive at the airport to when they touch down,” the carrier said.
