To the shock of cabin crew and other passengers alike, a couple was caught having sex in the bathroom of an easyJet flight from Luton to Ibiza.
A video that has gone viral on X, getting more than 5 million views, shows a flight attendant pacing around by the plane’s lavatory, while passengers can be heard screaming and laughing in the background. The flight attendant finally opens the door, revealing two people in a rather compromising position.
To the further shock of the rest of the people on board, the man closed back the door of the toilet and the couple allegedly went on with their business even after being exposed, probably wanting to make sure they qualified to join the mile high club.
“We can confirm that this flight from Luton to Ibiza on 8 September was met by police on arrival due to the behaviour of two passengers onboard”, an easyJet spokesperson told The Independent.
The identities of the two passengers have not been revealed. It is yet unknown if the couple were actually arrested or just escorted off the plane or whether any fines or other charges were brought against them.
In the meantime, the Bedfordshire Police force, which oversees Luton Airport, have confirmed they are not involved in case. Moreover, they have clarified that while there are no laws specifically against having sex on a plane, according to section 71 of the UK’s Sexual Offences Act 2004, it is “an offence intentionally to engage in sexual activities in a public lavatory”.
Opinions seem divided over whether the couple’s brazen act was brave or outright audacious. Nevertheless, social media users did not miss the opportunity of making fun of the situation. Some jokingly said that Ryanair would have charged extra for this, while another said “Might as well stay in there and finish. High five everyone on the way out.” Another even complimented easyJet for having large enough toilets that two people to not only fit in there, but have enough room to move around as well.
